What a treat it was to walk down the hall this morning and see my son asleep in his own bed. He's still got some work to do, but he's already amazed his doctors, nurses, and therapists with how fast he's recovering. Sometimes I catch myself staring at him and marveling that three weeks to the day of his accident, my son is home ... safe, secure, and whole. Even the most optimistic didn't think this day would come so quickly. I feel very blessed.

An Aerial View of the Blue Ridge Mountains

| An aerial view of the Blue Ridge Mountains |
Before my son's accident, we were toying with the idea of spending New Year's Eve at his cabin with some friends. Maybe we can plan on that for next year. I could really use a vacation right now, but I've missed so much work lately that a vacation isn't in the cards.
A friend of his took this photo as he flew over the Blue Ridge Mountains last fall. It's a pretty cool photograph, but I think I prefer driving through the mountains and marveling at their beauty close up :)

Fortune Cookie Series, Episode 3: Not Necessarily ...
If this were true, my son would not have been in an accident. He wouldn't have suffered a traumatic brain injury. And he would be completely healed by now.

Happy New Year
Here's to hoping 2015 is better than 2014.
A lot of good things happened in 2014, but there was also a lot of pain and anguish.
It is my sincere prayer that 2015 is a stress-free, crisis-free year ... I could use one of those.
